Item Description

The sulfides minerals from the Krushev dol Deposit are among the finest examples of their respective species ever found, particular the Sphalerites. When you consider how many different sulfide species there are in the mineral world, only a handful actually pass light, and Sphalerite is arguably the most well-known GEM quality sulfide in the world. The Bulgarian Sphalerites are known for being among the most colorful and gemmy examples of the species out there, and their appeal is boosted by the fact that they are often incredibly well-crystallized. This attractive small cabinet specimen features a handful of razor-sharp, rather lustrous, GEM QUALITY crystals of Sphalerite measuring up to 1.3 cm across which show a lovely golden-green hue when backlit. The crystals truly are WATER CLEAR in areas, and the little Sphalerites are like transparent little jewels. Associated crystals of silvery Galena can be seen scattered around the wonderfully contrasting white crystallized Quartz matrix. No damage that I can find with the naked eye, and high quality to be sure. It's really not common to find very sharp, well-formed, highly lustrous crystals of Sphalerite on matrix that are also GEM QUALITY like this from any world locality. Valued at $1,500 in the inventory.
