Sphalerite (multicolor stone)

Bulgaria is probably the best active region producing gem quality Sphalerite in the world right now. Some of the best gem quality green, yellow and orange Sphalerite in the world is found in the Madan Region of Bulgaria. This particular gem is a larger, stone with a "Concave Round Brilliant" cut. Now the gem is very dark in reflected light, but under strong backlighting, it shows an incredible mix of golden-brown, orange, golden, yellow and greenish-yellow hues. This stone has visible inclusions, but is certainly one of the larger gems that we've offered from the locality. A cool collector's gem, and well worth the $100 starting bid for the size I think.
