Item Description

This specimen is a fantastic example of the classic red "Ruby Jack" Sphalerite from the famous locality at Joplin, Missouri. Many very sharp, highly lustrous, well-formed, reddish-brown, modified tetrahedral crystals of Sphalerite measuring up to 6 mm across are sitting atop a layer of tiny sparkling gemmy golden-orange Sphalerites on host rock matrix. Good quality and beautiful from the crystallographic standpoint. The Sphalerite crystals GLOW with color when backlit, and the quality is EXCELLENT for the locality. The upper portion of the specimen features tiny white curved rhombohedra of Dolomite for a nice accent. I love how the piece sits on its own without the aid of a base or clay. Great old classic material from the tri-state region. Priced at $1,250 in the inventory.
