Item Description

Very attractive cluster of jet-black Sphalerite, decorated with Calcite, from the famous Naica Mine in Mexico. The tiered, intergrown Sphalerites reach up to 3.2 cm across, and the luster is superb, almost mirror-like. Some of the crystals, if not all, are also twinned. Adding to the beauty and interest of this small cabinet specimen is a cascade of gemmy and small Calcite crystals that winds it way down the middle of the specimen, almost like a frozen waterfall. And if that weren't enough, the Calcites fluoresce a bright orange, and look amazing under a black light. This is a fine, aesthetic, and highly representative piece from Naica. Old classic from the 1970s or early 1980s
