Sphalerite with Pyrite (Larry Krause)

Splendent, sharp, striated, jet-black, sphalerite crystals comprise this showy and excellent mounded specimen. Strikingly, one side of the piece is preferentially peppered with sparkly, contrasting, brassy, pyrite microcrystals! Complete all-around and pristine, except for very modest periphery wear at the base. Sphalerite of this quality is relatively uncommon from the well-known Pachapaqui District of Peru and this piece probably dates to the early 1990s, when production expanded.
