Item Description

Sculptural old-time crystallized copper with a nice patina from the famous Quincy Mine of historic Copper Country. The fascinating piece is composed entirely of elongated spinel-twins. The highlight is the right side composed of overlapping fans of parallel-growth curved spinel-twins, reaching about 2.4 cm. The Quincy operated nearly continuosly from 1848 to 1947, with only a six year break in the 1930s. Ex Lee Burnett Collection of Morrison, Colorado. Spinel-twins of this style are very uncommon from the Quincy. Valued at $450.
