Item Description

San Diego County, California is well-known for its Spodumene crystals, most notably for some of the finest crystals of Kunzite ever found (which were the first Kunzite crystals in history). This crystal is a wonderful GEM quality Spodumene crystal from the Pala District, with no specific mine given. The crystal has superlative gemminess, a soft pinkish-yellow color, well-striated faces and that classic "Roman sword" termination. The lower portion of the crystal is contacts on the edges, but overall the piece is in very good condition. The piece weighs in at 42.7 grams (over 200 carats!) and would make a great addition to a gem crystal suite or a collection of southern California minerals.
