Item Description

Sculptural, very fine, doubly terminated, pretty yellow-green gem Spodumene from the well-known Pala Chief Mine, famous for exceptional lilac (pink) Kunzite Spodumene specimens. The crystal has superlative gemminess, gorgeous yellow-green color, well-striated sides, distinctively different terminations and classic waxy luster. Complete all-around. One side is a cleave, but it's hard to tell. Triphane was originally a synonym for Spodumene and then used as a varietal name for colorless or yellow to green Spodumene. "Because of this confusion, the name is best avoided." (MINDAT). Choice and excellent material from 2004 or 2011 finds at the locale. Ex Bill Larson Southern California Pegmatite Collection and long on display at his Pala International shop in Fallbrook. A MUST for the species or locality collector! Value?? These are simply not for sale at any price and we were fortunate to get this old collection of such treasures. When they are gone...they are gone! Mass is 31 grams.
