Classic and dramatic old-time stilbite from this well-known New Jersey quarry. A striking, very pronounced, well-formed, 6.5 cm stilbite bowtie is dramatically set on thin basalt matrix covered with colorless, complex calcite rhombs and two partially hidden creamy, blocky chabazite crystals. The bladed bowtie has beautiful shimmering lustre, translucence and fine honey-brown color. A superlative old-time stilbite, calcite and chabazite combination specimen recovered during active mining of this famous trap rock quarry of 1893 to 1925. From an East Coast collection and comes with a faded, water-stained century old label.
