Stilbite on Microcline

Item Description

An extremely unusual pegmatite specimen from Brazil! Two intersecting shards of flesh colored Microcline are connected in sort of a Y-shape and the elongate Microcline shards are accented by tabular Stilbite crystals all over the topside of both pieces. The Microcline is somewhat etched and has a flesh color with brownish "haloed" spots to 3 or 4 mm across. The pretty well isolated, off-white to almost pale greenish Stilbite crystals average about 1 cm in length and cover much of the display surface of both pieces. It is not unusual for Zeolite species to be associated with pegmatite, but they are not at all common in Brazil! This is a great example formerly from the Luis Menezes collection then to Alvaro Lucio.
