Item Description

RARE and outstanding old combination material from this extinct mine in the historic Freiberg area. A 2.3 cm compound ball of glassy calcite rhombs crowns an artistic 360-degree upright miniature richly covered with striking sprays of glassy, gemmy strontianite needles. The piece displays beautifully without aid. Faint pink and bright white fluorescence. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 3273 and acquired John Albanese in the mid-1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). VERY RARE and excellent old-time combination material from this locale.
