Sturmanite (GEMMY crystals) (ex Vasco Trancoso Collection)

Item Description

A beautiful large thumbnail specimen of the famous Sturmanites from the prolific N'Chwaning II Mine in South Africa. Typically, Sturmanite crystals are not transparent, but one of the crystals on this piece is notably GEMMY (nearly WATER CLEAR), while the others show decent gemminess when backlit. The crystals are sharp and well-formed with fine hexagonal prismatic form and a light yellow color. The largest crystal measures 1.2 cm long. There are additional small accenting crystals on the base of the piece which are also rather gemmy. A very attractive and fine quality example of this rare material. A must have for any fan of minerals from the Kalahari Manganese Field.
