Sylvanite (rare locality)

The Emperor Mine in Fiji is a famous locality for telluride species, along with native tellurium crystals. While some of the largest examples of Sylvanite ever seen have come from this mine, they are virtually impossible to find on the market today. This piece is a hard to find matrix specimen featuring several bright, white-silvery colored crystals of Sylvanite measuring up to 4 mm, sitting on Quartz and host rock. Most of the Sylvanites I've seen from this locality are loose single crystals, free of matrix, so a piece like this is a big deal. The Sylvanites are best seen under magnification, and you'll find there are beautiful and well-formed crystal faces all over the piece.
