Item Description

The locality at Dara-i-Pech is one of the most impressive producers of gem pegmatite mineral specimens in the world. Its famous for the amazing polychrome Tourmaline crystals that have been coming out for decades. This piece is a fantastic, lustrous, gemmy crystal group with a predominantly strong pink hue throughout the majority of the prisms featuring beautiful green basal terminations with a small hint of pink on the end of one of the crystals. The base of the crystal actually has half of a termination, so technically the piece is doubly-terminated, but the most interesting aspect of the specimen is the fact that it's "bent" at the base, which is a result of the crystal partially breaking during tectonic activity while it was still growing and subsequently healing ("re-healing") at a slight angle to create the visible curvature. I can't find any major damage, only a few tiny dings along the prism, but nothing significant whatsoever. Some sparkling colorless Quartz crystals can be seen on the backside on the piece for a nice touch. Very good quality, showy and the unique form make a highly desirable gem crystal specimen from this world famous locality. Specimen weight is 60.80 grams. Priced in our inventory at $4,000.
