Item Description

A beautiful multicolored, very gemmy, lustrous, striated prismatic Tourmaline from Paprok, Afghanistan. The beautiful, well-formed, highly lustrous, pyramidal termination on the specimen shows a lovely pink hue which transitions into a slight colorless "Achroite" zone, then into a wonderful green shade, ending with a pink and green "watermelon" effect at the base. No damage outside of the base of the specimen where it was removed from the pocket wall. The upper-middle section of the piece is incredibly GEMMY (clean enough to facet a gemstone) and the color is beautiful when backlit. Tourmaline is one of the few minerals found in naturally occurring multicolor crystals, and a piece like this is a wonderful example of this beloved material. Good gem Tourmalines are among the most popular minerals in the world, and good crystals like this are always The specimen weighs 4.6 grams. From the collection of Shields Flynn.
