A classic specimen of Dravite from the famous locality at Power's Farm, Pierrepont, New York. The piece features a captivating, 4.2 cm Dravite that has classic, mirror-like faces and a highly modified form. The crystal has beveled edges, and even the edges of those edges are modified! It is fascinating that reverse sides of the main crystal have dramatically different habits, which adds to the beauty and interest of the piece. The highly-lustrous faces and complicated trigonal form have made these some of the most well-known tourmalines (especially opaque tourmalines) in the world. It should be noted that these specimens were labeled as Uvite for decades, but it turns out that they are mostly Dravite compositionally with a mix of the species, although mostly Uvite zones inside the same crystal.
