Item Description

This Tsavorite Garnet specimen is from a recent discovery (2019) in the famous Merelani Hills of Tanzania, known for its superb Tanzanite crystals and gems. This toenail sized piece features a pair of sharp, lustrous, well-formed crystals of Grossular Garnet (var: Tsavorite) measuring up to 2.2 cm with a bit of attached matrix. The color ranges from a beautiful chrome green to golden hues, and the main crystal is good sized for the locality and the material in general. There are few rough spots here and there, so it's not 100% pristine, but the glistening luster combined with the textbook dodecahedral form make for an attractive piece from this important gem producing district. If you're a fan of Garnets, gem minerals or specimens from Tanzania, be sure to pick this one up. Priced in the inventory at $1,000.
