Item Description

A fantastic small cabinet display specimen featuring an excellent quality, very sharp, lustrous, compressed, dark red colored crystal of Uvite Tourmaline measuring 2.1 cm across sitting atop white/colorless Magnesite matrix. I love the beautiful internal color of the Uvite when backlit. No damage that I can see with the naked eye, though the reverse side of the Uvite has a frosted / matte luster. The quality is very good for the species, and these red crystals are highly desirable as you don't see many Tourmalines with this color from anywhere. These are some of the finest examples of Uvite in the world. A really three-dimensional and eye-catching display piece of these beloved Tourmaline specimens. Valued at $950. From the worldwide collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). David was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered.
