Item Description
This great color combo for Vesuvianite is only seen from the Jeffrey Mine and these are truly some of the most distinctive crystals in the world because virtually no other species has this color or color variation, and certainly not in Vesuvianite, from anywhere! This exceptional toenail is dominated by the violet-magenta color of Manganoan Vesuvianite with subtle green tones in places, mostly at the interior, for the normal, iron-rich Vesuvianite. The magenta color is more rare than the typical green color from here (itself fairly uncommon!) and well known for their violet and magenta colors which can clearly be seen on this specimen. This toenail is made up of almost a dozen, lustrous, translucent, blocky prismatic crystals to 2 cm in length that show parallel growth and multiple faces that catch any incident light and make the piece sparkle. The variegated violet-magenta and green along with its composition makes for an attractive piece! 14.83 grams. Old material, now seldom seen
