Vesuvianite (Rare DT, Type Locality)

An important and very fine vesuvianite crystal from one of the most important locations for collecting classic minerals, in Italy. This is stunningly gemmy, of a very high quality for vesuvianite from anywhere, but especially from here. It measures 1.6 x 0.6 x 0.6 cm and is good on its own merits but has extra value, being from this classic locality! Label notes that it was found in 1992. I have never seen this sharp crystal formation with this quality from here, and it is a major thumbnail specimen. EX: Jingnan (Tom) Zhang collection, formerly in the Wendy and Frank Melanson collection. Valued $1000 for quality and gemminess, although perhaps hard to see online.
