Item Description

A classic, pseudo-hexagonal, tan Witherite crystal diplayed nicely on matrix, from the famous Minerva #1 Mine. The lustrous, translucent, blocky crystal (3.1 x 2.9 cm) is well-developed, and it has a bright, lemon-white fluorescence. An excellent example of an Illinois classic, for which Minerva is renowned, this is highly representative, older material from there. Sadly, this great locality closed in 1996, so exemplary specimens such as this small cabinet piece are rarely available and highly coveted. Formerly in the extensive collection of W & A Cook.
