This showy piece is from a classic England locality - the Settlingstones Mine, Northumberland. Stout, lustrous, translucent, white, and up to 1 cm, the Witherites form an impressive, sculptural and rich large specimen. They cover all the matrix save for the two attachment points (the bottom and one end). The side by side crystals give the surface a distinctive, saw-toothed look - almost a cross between a snail and a hedgehog, and this exceptional pseudomorph is in super condition. Historic, old-time material that is probably around 100 years old or older, there are few I have seen of this quality. Formerly in the renowned collection of Ed Swoboda (Carter Rich label - and Carter bought Ed's pseudomorph collection back in the 1990s). Superb example of a rare specimen!
