Item Description

This colorful miniature is composed of at least two dozen, sharply formed, dark seafoam green crystals of Zincolivenite to 7 mm on edge completely covering the display surface. All of the crystals are well-formed and in excellent condition with only very minor contacting around the periphery of the piece. Although there is no analysis accompanying this specimen, many specimens from Tsumeb that have been labeled as "Cuprian Adamite" are in fact Zincolivenite according to recent science and should generally be relabelled: The following reference indicates that a majority of "cuproadamites" belong to the more recently defined species zincolivenite (Chukanov et al., 2007), defined as having a Zn:Cu ratio of less than 75:25, but greater than 25:75. With that said, we have not had this specimen analyzed to determine its true identity, but based upon the information available, we feel comfortable selling it as Zincolivenite (the gorgeous green crystals formerly known as Cuprian Adamite). A great miniature for the species. Alex Neufeld Collection
