Item Description

Mount Saint-Hilaire is one of the world's most significant localities, and produces many "best in the world" specimens and very distinctive looking species. Even common species like Rhodochrosite are notably distinctive (even sometimes twinned!) from this incredible locality. This piece features sharp and lustrous reddish colored rhombic crystals of Rhodochrosite aesthetically set atop white Albite. A cool association specimen, and really fun to view under the microscope. The largest Rhodochrosite meaures about 3 mm. Do not miss out on this one, I'm told that collecting at the quarry is now highly restricted by new ownership, so specimens will be nearly impossible to obtain unless they come from old collections.
