Item Description

Tinguaite is not a mineral species, but it defined as an undersaturated, medium-to coarse-grained, igneous rock consisting of essential alkali feldspar, nepheline, and aegirine (with or without sodic amphibole or biotite). Tinguaite is the hypabyssal equivalent of phonolite. The material from the Khibiny Massif in Russia is the finest lapidary grade Tingauite in the world, but it not often available on the market. This beautiful polished sphere is a superb example of the material showing a gorgeous soft sage green hues mixed with darker black-green tones. The banding and zoning on all sides is superb and it can easily be displayed from several angles. A great piece to add to a polished sphere collection, or a collection of lapidary grade polished rocks.
