Dense pretty multi-hued concentric banding and sculptural form surrounds the contrasting interior vug lined with nubby botryoidal chalcedony on this showy nodule from Laguna. Laguna agates are generally considered to be the finest Mexican agates and arguably the finest in the world. Classic and excellent Laguna agate from the Kay Robertson Collection, with no number. Kay assembled a small sub collection of notable agates. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
