Item Description

Marmatite is the opaque black iron-rich variety of Sphalerite and is not that common worldwide. This impressive sculptural large specimen looks like a "Horn of Plenty". The interior of the "horn" is lined with clusters of glassy small quartz points. The richly scattered and clustered black sphalerite crystals, epecially the dramatically placed 1.4 cm compound crystal at the lip of the roof and the scattered fields of tiny brassy pyrite crystals add real pizzazz to this very artistic, excellent and uncommon large combination specimen from this less well-known Spanish locale and the Raul Sanabria Collection. Former in the J.A. Robles Collection.
