Item Description

A striking and sculptural large smoky quartz specimen from Governador Valadares and the Paul Zerfass Collection # 1749. Strikingly enechelon, terminated gem smoky quartz crystals are supremely lustrous, glassy, have entrancing variable smoky color and are aesthetically set on the large massive smoky quartz and feldspar matrix. The crystals reach 3.4 cm and some are doubly terminated (largest). The form of the beautiful intergrown smokies remind me of scales on a crocodile's hide. Smoky quartz specimens are uncommon from this noted Minas Gerais area and this is a very fine example.
