Item Description

A large, classic specimen of beautifully preserved petrified wood from Arizona. This specimen comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ). The locality is simply "Arizona", so I'm leaving it at that, but if there are any experts who can give us a little more insight as to where it's from, we would welcome the information. The piece shows fantastic form with well-preserved "rings" and a lovely outer "rind"! The internal color ranges from sandy to beige to iron-red to lilac-blue to brown hues. The front of the piece has a good polish, and really looks beautiful. This material commands a high price on the market
