Sapphire (blue stripe)

Sapphires come in virtually every color of the rainbow, and this stone is a very attractive gem with an unusual and attractive blue "stripe" that runs across a softer blue background. The gem is translucent, so it's not GEM quality, but it looks good with backlighting. The gem has a standard "Oval Step" cut. Sapphires are steadily going up in price around the globe, and stones with a unique stripe like this one are worth adding to a gem oddities suite.
