Scapolite

This stone is from a new find of Scapolite from Burma a few years ago. Scapolite is not a terribly common gem, especially from Burma. To be correct, the names of the species of "Scapolite" are Marialite and Meionite. Nonetheless, this is a beautiful "Oval Cabochon" cut gem with a muted silvery color and a very very slight "cat's eye" or possibly "star" effect that can be seen with strong lighting. The Burmese stones are virtually impossible to find on the market, regardless of whether or not they have a "cat's eye" or "star" in them.
