Item Description
The majority of the Feldpsar around the world is opaque, and it is not suitable for cutting gems. This stone is a very rarely seen example of gem quality Feldspar in the form of blue green Microcline ("Amazonite"). This piece came to us from a dealer in Burma who said it came out of gem gravel, so they don't know specifically where it came from. It was cut into a "Round Cabochon" and when you backlight it, the stone actually passes light, which is rare! It's not a transparent gem, but Feldspar is rarely transparent. Most of the Amazonite in the world is essentially opaque, so when you find a stone like this, even when it has a lighter color, it's a big deal. A great gem to add to your rare stone collection!
