Item Description

A fine, sharp, gemmy, cubic specimen of Fluorite from the famous La Barre Mine. The crystal shows a beautiful teal blue hue on the exterior with a golden "core" in sunlight, and shifts to a notably different and eye-catching bicolor hue with a pink core surrounded by a lilac-blue tone on the outer edges in indoor lighting. The crystal shows excellent internal zoning / "phantoms" when backlit, like many Fluorites from this locality. Good quality and hard to find on the market these days. It's a little rough around the edges, but still a nice representation of this old classic material. From the collection of the long time, beloved, well-known French field collector, Paul Zerfass. Zerfass built this worldwide collection over nearly 50 years, many of which were personally collected. A biography featuring specimens from his collection (along with his face on the cover) is in the May - June 2017 issue of French mineral magazine, Le Regne Mineral. We have a .pdf copy of the article for anybody interested in reading it (though it's mostly in French). Just drop us a line and know that you'd like to have a copy.
