Item Description

For all the species at Ojuela, it's amazing how diverse some of them are. Mimetites from this prolific mine vary in terms of color and habit. We are used to seeing yellow semi-radial Mimetites from this locality, butt his piece features the rarely seen apple green crystals! - not "balls" with fine luster and form. They are highlighted by thin, GEMMY, window pane habit, yellow color Wulfenite crystals and minor Calcite on Limonite marix. The largest Mimetite crystal measures about 3 mm, and the largest Wulfenite measures up up to 7 mm across. Good quality all around, very little damage and just plain different compared to most Mimetites we've seen from Ojuela. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#2280) with a label from the private collection of Scott Williams. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
