Item Description

Hexagonal, splendent pearlescent brown muscovite plates form a very fine two-sided specimen from this famous emerald and hiddenite deposit. The small hole (it grew around a disrupting crystal of garnet or beryl?) adds character to this piece. Specimens of this quality are rare and are seldom on the market. Formerly in the collection of Terry Ledford, well-known North Carolina specimen miner and mineral dealer, who died tragically in an emerald mining accident in 2014. See his biography in the Mineralogical Record Biographical Archive: http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1774.
