Item Description

A dramatic old Santa Eulalia Calcite specimen, with fantastic, razor sharp, very gemmy, soft yellow color scalenohedral crystals. The crystals are well-formed and lovely to view from every angle. The largest Calcite measures 3.6 cm long, which is good sized for the locality. The crystals on this showy display specimen have an amazing aesthetic arrangement, with wonderful three-dimensional appeal. To top it off, the Calcites are sitting on matrix composed of Pyrite which has pseudomorphed after Pyrrhotite. I can see a few tiny dings, but overall, the piece is superb condition and rarely does one find a piece of this classic material with such great aesthetics. Valued at $1250. From the collection of Senator / Dr. Miguel Romero of Teuhuacan, Mexico. The piece is accompanied by a label from Peter Megaw.
