Item Description

Of all the tin mines in Bolivia, Viloco is the only one to produce gem quality crystals in any capacity. It is the premier locality for Cassiterite in Bolivia. This toenai sized specimen hosts several sharp, very lustrous, fine quality cyclic twinned crystals which might appear black on the exterior, but when they're backlit, they glow with a beautiful golden amber color. Classic material and overall a very showy specimen with only a tiny bit of roughness on the display side. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#10581). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
