Item Description

A wonderful old classic from Bisbee dating back many decades. The piece featuring gorgeous sky blue colored botryoidal groups of Chalcoalumite measuring up to about 3 mm across filling various vugs of the underlying matrix. You can see a bit of associated green Malachite as well, but the Chalcoalumite is the stare here, and the color and quality is excellent for the species and locality. From the worldwide collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). David was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered. The piece comes with old labels from noted dealers Josef Vajdak and Hugh A. Ford. Since the label has Ford's New York address it dates to 1946-1957, so the piece is at least 60 years old, but probably 75+. Great old classic material from Bisbee!
