Opal in Petrified Wood (15.55 carats)

Item Description

A very exciting piece of newly mined Precious Opal replacing Petrified Wood from the Java, Indonesia. This thumbnail specimen features many thin "veins" of highly colorful Precious Opal which shows bright color flashes of red, gold, orange, yellow, green and blue set against the brownish-black Petrified Wood. The specimen is slightly polished / tumbled to allow the Opal really shine, but it's best seen in up close and in person. The Opal honestly doesn't need a strong light for the color to glow either. We were fortunate to pick this one up from a close friend who bought it directly in Indonesia, so we know it's genuine. I think it's a fascinating piece for many collectors as it is not just a mineral specimen, nor a gem specimen nor a fossil, but a combination of all three. Weight is 15.55 carats.
