Item Description

Ametrine is a naturally occurring purple and yellow bi-color variety of Quartz and the best examples are found in the eastern jungle of Bolivia. Most people are familiar with the classic "slabs" of Ametrine (cut along the "c" axis) which are cut to show the separate color zones in the crystals, often showing an alternating "radiation" pattern of purple and yellow triangles. This is a lovely, richly colored, purple and yellow etched crystal of Ametrine. The piece shows beautiful color when backlit, but the MOST interesting aspect of the piece is the fact that it shows rarely seen "c" pinacoid (0001) faces on the terminations, which is almost never observed in Quartz. Beautiful material, and I honestly feel that these specimens do not get enough attention for their unique coloring and quality in the mineral world. Weight = 223.41 grams. Priced at $600 in the inventory.
