Item Description

Azurites from the Castle Dome Mine are notably rare on the market, especially good quality specimens. This piece hosts excellent, deep midnight blue color, highly lustrous semi "rosettes" of Azurite covering the display side of the underlying host rock matrix. The crystals are incredibly deep blue in color, but you can see a few tiny imperfections where the blue color is a little lighter. If you collect secondary ore minerals, Azurites or minerals from Arizona, this is a good piece of this elusive material from the Miami - Globe area. The piece was mined around 1950. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#2705). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
