Item Description

When this material first started coming out around 2000, they were all labels as being Poldervaartite, but it turns out they are Olmiite, making Poldervaartite an exceptionally rare species. This miniature specimen features very good sized "spheres" of gemmy, well-crystallized, pinkish-orange Olmiite sitting on minor matrix. The largest "ball" measures 3.7 cm across. It appears that the piece formed in a fairly narrow seam in the pocket and the "spheres" are somewhat compressed in their growth. The quality is wonderful for the material and the size of the groups is certainly noteworthy. There really is only one place in the world where Olmiite of any significance is found, and pieces like this are certainly worth picking up since so little is available on the market today.
