Item Description

A very good quality stalactitic Malachite from Shilu showing a wonderful forest green hue and fine satiny luster that clearly distinguishes the piece from African material of similar shape. The piece is in great condition overall with a few minor nicks and a contact on the tip of the piece. Very attractive for the species, and I have to say that it almost looks as though it's organic because minerals rarely form in this shape / style. These pieces came over 10 years ago, and one does not see them on the market anymore since the locality is now flooded and inaccessible. From the worldwide collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). David was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered.
