Item Description

Until a few decades ago, it was quite rare to find matrix specimens of Aquamarine on the market. The Shigar Valley in Pakistan along with the Erongo Region in Namibia have given collectors some of the best matrix examples of Aquamarine ever found. The Erongo specimens are impressive, not only for their superb quality and associations, but the RICH blue color of the crystals, even in smaller sizes. This small cabinet piece features a few sharp, lustrous, gem/gemmy strong blue color, prismatic hexagonal Aquamarine crystals aesthetically flaring off of cream colored Microcline matrix. The overall quality and form makes for a great display specimen. The largest Aqua crystal (on the underside of the piece) measures 2.0 cm long. The main crystal on the top of the piece is undamaged, but the larger crystal underneath is contacted and partially "re-healed" / recrystallized on the base. The color is amazingly STRONG for crystals of this size as Beryls typically are much softer in color in smaller crystals. A very nice specimen of this contemporary classic material. Valued at $850.
