Item Description

A very old and hard to find specimen of Tremolite (what was formerly referred to as "Grammatite") from the Fagaras Mountains of Romania. This piece is the first specimen we've ever seen of this material. It features thin prisms of off-white colored Tremolite which are intergrown and covering nearly all sides of the underlying matrix. A really unusual historic specimen that would make a great addition to any European suite. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#8157) with a wonderful old handwritten label from Hermann Kraft. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
