Item Description

This long storied historic U.S. locality has produced some of the world's finest Calcite and Fluorite specimens extant. Despite the fact that there are only a handful of species found at the Elmwood mine, some of them are among the most recognizable minerals in the world. This wonderful cabinet piece hosts a large, very sharp, highly lustrous, rather gemmy, beautiful golden color, scalenohedral Calcite with minor crystallized "Ruby Jack" Sphalerite plus smaller Calcites on a small pedestal of matrix. The main Calcite crystal is twinned as you can see the reentrant angle at the center of the crystal, and this piece is in very good shape overall for the size, though there are a few little nicks here and there, along with a cleave on one end of the main Calcite. These pieces are well known classics from the U.S. and this one really has it all from the standpoint of quality, size and displayability. Valued at $1250 retail.
