Item Description

A classic example of the rare and highly sought after rich green colored "Demantoid" (a variety of Andradite) Garnte from the famous Thetford Mines in Quebec. Sharp, well-formed, minty blue-green colored dodecahedral crystals of Demantoid measuring up to 8 mm across sit atop a layer of host rock matrix. It's not common to find multiple crystals together like this from Thetford, and we're labeling this as Andradite, but I've seen others labeled as Grossular Garnet. Based upon the color and the similarity to other's I've seen labeled as Andradite, we think it's safe to keep this one labeled as Andradite. Hard to find on the market, and certainly worth picking up if you collect Garnets or thumbnails.
