Item Description

From a new find at the end of 2017, we have some exciting specimens of Chrysoberyl from the classic locality at Itaguacu. Typically we're used to seeing Chrysoberyl on its own from Brazil, and rarely with any associated minerals. These new specimens are associated with Smoky Quartz, which while may not be terribly rare or exotic, is still noteworthy. I don't know if Quartz has been reported from this locality, but our source in Brazil swears that these specimens were mined at Itaguacu. Sharp, translucent, yellow-green crystals of Chrysoberyl are intermixed with alternating crystals of glassy Smoky Quartz with a tiny bit of attached Albite at the base. I love the way the Chrysoberyl and the Smoky Quartz alternate on the specimen and are almost evenly distributed throughout the piece. There are a few contacts, but overall the piece is in good shape and is really interesting to view up close. These specimens are beloved by collectors are certainly hard to find on the market, especially with any associations like this.
