Item Description

This material is fairly rare from Erongo, and I honestly can't remember seeing it from any other world locality. A group of sharp, lustrous, jet-black, prismatic Schorl Tourmaline crystals - with the largest measuring 3.5 cm long - are "frosted" on the termination with white Hyalite Opal (now called Opal-AN) and associated with cream colored prismaitc Microcline and minor Muscovite Mica. The "Hyalite" fluoresces a beautiful color under UV light. The Schorls are actually fibrous on the terminations, creating lovely "peaks" where the Hyalite was deposited. The best of these Schorls are some of the finest examples of the species from any world locality in terms of size, quality and aesthetics. Ex Charlie Key personal collection. Charlie is arguably the most sucessful dealer of the second half of the 20th century, along with being the namesake for TWO mineral species (Keyite and Ludlockite).
