Item Description

This piece came labeled as simply coming from "Mexico", and I honestly haven't seen one quite like it from any Mexican locality. It doesn't resemble the famous Andradites from the Ojos Espanoles Mine, nor does it resemble anything from Naica or Alamos. WIth that said, it's a very fine display specimen. It features a three-dimensional "mound" of sharp, well-formed, lustrous, beautiful reddish-brown colored dodecahedral crystals with notable "phantom" zoning that can be seen in srong lighting. The largest individual crystal measures 6 mm across. If you flip the piece over, you can see the crystals are overgrowing a layer of beautiful green Andradite on host rock matrix. I honestly can't find any damage on the display side, and it's so showy that you can display it from several angles. If you collect worldwide Garnets or Mexican minerals, don't miss out on this one. Very attractive and a worthwhile pickup for any collector. Valued at $950.
